STELLAR Broadband was founded in 2001, as Spartan Net Co. with a vision of providing the best Internet experience that a fiber optic network could deliver.
Merit signed Spartan Net as a service provider and we began our partnership with DTN Management Company servicing over 1,000 units in student housing across the city of East Lansing.
2003 - First Office Space
Established our first office space located in the basement of DTN Management Co.
Acquired our first metro ring fibers which increased our fiber build by 50 miles extending into the greater Lansing area.
& Napster Partnership
Hired our very first technician, Ryan, who now serves as our Director of Network Operations. Additionally, we partnered with Napster to allow university residents who had accounts to use the service.
Designed our first Spartan Net Co. company logo and website.
Moved to a larger office space with team and property expansion and became officially registered as a private ISP with Arin (American Registry for Internet Numbers).
First deployment of 1-Gig services to the apartment.
Launched our first website revision and brand design refresh.
Partnerships & Office Space
Developed new partnership with Gillespie Group & moved to our current office space to support a growing team.
Launched our first subscription process to intake residential orders for Internet & TV.
Expanded our fiber reach to Grand Rapids, Michigan with our first GR property, Arena Place.
Launched service at new Grand Rapids developments as well as developed partnerships with CRMC (Community Resource Management) and Third Coast Development.
Nationally recognized for the first 10-Gigabit Fiber Internet deployment in student housing.

Leveraging his knowledge and skills as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Russell leads the engineering of STELLAR’s regional network and leads our frontend and backend development teams.
